MOTs are carried out annually to determine a cars roadworthiness.
It examines everything from your vehicles tyres and wheels to seat belts, steering and suspension.
An MOT can be carried out at any time, and if it is taken within a month of when the MOT is due, the certificate will last exactly one year to the date of the previous expiry date. For example, if the current certificate is due to expire on 29 September 2011, and the vehicle is presented on or after 30 August 2011, the certificate will run from the test date until 29 September 2012.
